Welcome to NAEVS ​

 We are New Jersey’s only veterinary hospital dedicated to providing high level veterinary medicine exclusively to non-traditional (exotic) pets, including rabbits, birds, reptiles, aquatic species, and invertebrates.

Dr. Applegate and the team understand the remarkable human-animal bond with non-traditional pets and treat every patient like family. The goal of NAEVS is to practice good medicine while also treating people with kindness and being honest with clients. NAEVS is a community minded practice that is ready to welcome you and your exotic pet into the family. In addition to medical care, boarding opportunities and pre-shipment exams are available.

Dr. Jeff Applegate

Dr. Applegate has travelled extensively to lecture about and work with exotic animals, fostering a passion that has driven him since childhood. From his high school days working in the Point Pleasant Veterinary Hospital to fulfilling his lifelong dream of opening his own private practice, Dr. Applegate has the experience and knowledge to give your pet the care they deserve.

​Dr. Applegate and the staff of Nautilus will work closely with our colleagues at Garden State Veterinary Specialists to help prepare them for dealing with emergency conditions of exotic animals.  In advanced or complicated cases, the emergency doctor of (GSVS) will consult Dr. Applegate by phone with questions, as needed.
